Grace Health has been your access to high quality care since 1986 — honoring our history, advancing care today, and building a healthier tomorrow.
Grace Health (GH), a dually-designated Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) – both a Community Health Center and a Health Care for the Homeless provider – has been a trusted provider of primary care services in Calhoun County, Michigan since 1986. Founded to increase access to quality care for underserved populations, GH has continually expanded its services in response to community needs.
Over the years, GH has grown to offer a comprehensive range of services, including Family Practice, Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, Pediatrics, Behavioral Health, Psychiatry, Dental, Optometry/Vision Care, Podiatry, Physical Therapy, and Pharmacy. GH now operates from its main location in Battle Creek and 15 additional sites across the county, including locations within public schools.
Today, GH serves approximately 24% of Calhoun County’s population, focusing on uninsured, underinsured, and low-income individuals. In 2024 alone, GH provided over 124,300 visits to more than 29,400 patients – reflecting a 6% increase in patients and a 14% increase in visits compared to 2023. Each month, GH welcomes an average of 400 new patients and employs nearly 400 staff members, including providers and support staff dedicated to delivering compassionate, high-quality care.
GH also invests in the future by supporting the health of young people through two key initiatives: Child and Adolescent Health Centers, which are located in four school buildings, and E3 (Expanding, Enhancing Emotional Health) programs, which are offered in an additional four school building. These school-based services ensure students have convenient access to essential medical and behavioral health care. In addition, GH’s mobile dental program brings preventive services and oral health screenings directly to students in partnership with schools throughout Calhoun County.
Looking ahead, GH remains committed to innovation, sustainability, and deeper community engagement. Through collaborative partnerships—such as the Fresh Food Pharmacy with the local Food Bank—GH is addressing food insecurity and helping patients better manage chronic conditions like diabetes through education and access to healthy food. GH will continue to build on its strong foundation to advance health equity and improve outcomes for all members of the community.
