My mother always taught me that when someone asks you for help, you drop what you are doing and help. I want to be an advocate for children and do all that I can as a provider to help them grow and to show each child that they are full of potential, no matter what obstacles they may face.

Inspired by her mother’s words “when someone asks for your help, drop what you’re doing and help them,” Dr. Murthi pursued a career in medicine to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
She chose pediatrics because it is a vulnerable population that often cannot advocate for themselves. As a pediatrician, she strives to ensure that children feel safe, listened to, and cared for—while also creating a fun, welcoming environment that allows her to continue embracing a playful spirit.
Dr. Murthi builds trust with her patients and families by speaking to them authentically, empathizing with their perspectives, and sharing relatable experiences. She values honesty and openness, letting families know when she needs to research further to provide the best possible care.
The most rewarding part of her work is her patients themselves. No matter the challenges that come with the profession, her patients continually make it worthwhile. She emphasizes shared decision-making during visits, encouraging families to voice their thoughts and concerns so they leave feeling heard, understood, and hopeful. She speaks directly to her young patients, helping them feel engaged in their own healthcare journey and addressing any fears they may have about the clinical setting.
Outside of work, Dr. Murthi enjoys talking with her family back home in Canada, hiking and exploring Michigan’s natural beauty, reading self-help books for personal growth, and relaxing by watching her favorite TV shows.
